Our American Red Cross Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED course is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to respond effectively to medical emergencies involving infants and children. Geared towards childcare providers, teachers, parents, and anyone involved in caring for young individuals, this comprehensive program covers pediatric first aid techniques, CPR for infants and children, and the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) in pediatric settings. Through interactive instruction, hands-on practice, and scenario-based learning, participants will gain the confidence and competence to provide timely and appropriate care for pediatric medical emergencies.

  • Pediatric First Aid Techniques: Learn essential first aid skills specific to infants and children, including injury assessment, wound care, bandaging, splinting, allergic reactions, burns, and poisoning.

  • Pediatric CPR Techniques: Master pediatric CPR techniques for infants and children, including chest compressions, rescue breaths, and the proper compression-to-ventilation ratio, to maintain circulation and oxygenation during cardiac emergencies.

  • Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Use: Understand how to operate an automated external defibrillator (AED) safely and effectively in pediatric settings, including pad placement, device operation, and delivering a shock when indicated for sudden cardiac arrest.

  • Recognition and Response to Medical Emergencies: Develop proficiency in recognizing and responding to common pediatric medical emergencies, including choking, respiratory distress, seizures, fevers, and allergic reactions.

  • Hands-On Practice: Engage in practical, hands-on skills practice sessions using pediatric manikins, first aid supplies, and AED training devices to reinforce pediatric first aid, CPR, and AED techniques and build confidence in responding to real-life emergencies.
